Summer sessions are all about timing.  The need to beat the harsh light and the hot temperatures are top of the mind.

 

But, both of those things are easily overshadowed by the love and fun of the family you’re photographing.

 

I was lucky to be asked out on a shoot with a fun loving family last Saturday.  Not even then crowded park, or the rapidly increasing temps, or the bright sunlight could damper their smiles.

So excited I got to spend an afternoon with one of my all time favorite families!

 

And, I’m not saying that because this is our third photo session together; I’m saying that because they are so stinkin’ awesome and a whole lotta fun!

 

Plus, I love getting to see my little clients grow up so much!

As mom to three sons I am always excited to photograph other little dudes.  Rather it’s because it makes me feel like I’m not the only one living a wild and crazy Dude Mom Life, or if it’s just because it’s where I feel the most comfortable, I’ll probably never really figure out. 

 

Either way, I know how to make a Dude smile and I’m happy to have been sorta kinda successful with these brothers.

 

Toddlers are a tough crowd (something about my jokes not being particularly age appropriate), but darn if they aren’t cute!

All smiles!  That’s how I would describe this lovely family!

 

I had so much fun spending an afternoon with them last weekend!  And, man were they easy to photograph!

 

Best part?  I didn’t even have to tell mom and dad to hold hands; they just did it.  Because they wanted too!

 

Gotta love it!

This has turned into quite the busy October!

 

I am blogging my 10th session of the month right now and while it is slightly overwhelming, it’s still 100% fun!

 

I’m so happy to have had this photo session open up at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton last weekend.

 

Not every day a beautiful location falls into your lap and you just so happen to have a gorgeous and fun family ready and waiting to snap it up!

One of my shoots this weekend was of the most adorable, curly-haired princess ever!

 

Even better than her sweet face and her bouncy hair?!  The fact that she had some serious moves!

As a Dude Mom to three handsome balls of energy, I relish my opportunities to photograph little girls.

 

But, when it comes right down to it, I feel most comfortable hanging with the guys and seeing their personalities explode in front of my camera.

 

You know, in that special way that only boys know how to do.

This past weekend I stumbled upon a photographer’s dream place.

 

A spectacular, water-oriented location that has beautiful trees and rolling, grassy hills, and everything to make a beautiful back drop for some lovely family photos.

Sometimes photo shoots are hard.

 

They aren’t all pretty umbrella’s and flowing tutu skirts.

 

Sometimes kids just don’t want to have their photos taken.

 

At all.

 

And, that is when you just have to get creative.

 

And be happy for the patience of an easy going mom who has the positive energy of um, something super positive!
